"The location was excellent, the staff wonderful (bless them, I got a room in the morning when I needed it desperately), the room was charming, and the view fabulous as I had a room with a balcony overlooking the garden!
The only complaint I have is that I requested a room with a bathtub because I have poor balance and can't handle showers. It turns out that they have no bathtubs at all, so that was never an option.
I don't know if the lack of communication is on the side of Hotel Club or the Maranton House Hotel. I only stayed one night, so I coped by sitting on the floor of the shower, but you guess that in the future, I want to know that my requests in the designated space are taken seriously. "The receptionist certainly did not like his job. He was very unfriendly and he made us feel like we were bothering him. It took us quite some convincing to even get him to call us a taxi.
We had booked a non smoking room, but upon entering it smelled like someone had been smoking cigars in it all night - old, cold smoke!
The remote control did not work, and the hairdryer was missing the hose - it was just put on the wall for decoration it seemed...
The room was pretty nice, but we found leftovers of previous guests in the drawers, which made us wonder how thouroughly it had been cleaned.
The showers are electric, so we were woken up by the motor sound of the neighbours taking a shower in the morning. Also you can chose between having it hot or having water pressure. The more you turn it on, the colder it gets...
Breakfast was good and the breakfast staff was very nice and friendly.
