"A very nice hotel with a great breakfast buffet. All natural-bio products. Hotel is rather expensive though." - Laurent Guyer
"We stayed in a Romantic Theme room, which was almost too much for a one night stay in Salzburg because we wanted to stay in the room the whole time! The room looked and smelled wonderful, but the automation of everything by remote control could be seen as a hassle to those technologically inept. I had the feeling of being in 1001 Arabian Nights, and felt incredibly comfortable.
The staff was very polite, made sure we didn't go out without an umbrella by loaning us a hotel one, and gave us plenty of information about town when we arrived. Breakfast was an exquisite buffet, however the service was lacking. " - Cherie Knickerbocker
"This small hotel, located on a quiet street no more than 15-20 minutes' walk from any of the architectural or musical attractions of Salzburg, is affiliated with a natural-food restaurant. The breakfasts are unlike any we have ever encountered in a European hotel: quite varied, with elegant presentation and delicious fresh food. The staff were all extremely friendly. There is even a small "swimming" pool in the sub-basement, in keeping with the hotel's affiliation with a network of spas." - Matthew Gale
"I arrived at the Altstadthotel cold and wet and was given a very kind and warm welcome by the staff on hand which immediately improved my day. If you are a 'Sound of Music' fan and wish to be reminded of bits and pieces of the movie before doing any of the wonderful 'Sound of Music' Tours, you are in luck as this facility has reruns of this great old movie 24 hours a day. Two thumbs up!
