"Hotel check-in was quick. I purchased a twin room with no view but was upgraded to a twin room with 2 x double beds on Level 2 with a view over Lake Wakatipu. Rydges is 10 minutes walk along the road from Queenstown itself. The location is excellent and the rooms are very comfotable" - Eugene Piercy
"tiny room. can touch the walls when standing in the middle of the room. ok for one person as cheap.
problem with the hotel is the rooms at the front are modern and ok. the rooms at the back are old and crappy.

my room had a view of the tourist coaches which started up at 6 am ... goood for the early start.

"We felt that it was great that we got a complimentary upgrade but did feel that the room wasn't what we expected. We ended up upgrading to a suite though which was amazing! The service was also pretty average when we first got there but it got better through the stay with change of staff. The water temperature in the bathroom was also terrible which was really disappointing as it was freezing cold. Other than those points we did have a really good time and would definitely stay again!" - Anonymous

Flying into Queenstown is an experience all in itself; once you have flown alongside the Southern Alps you will get a preview of the beautiful scenery of the Southern Lakes area - from the snow capped mountains to the glistening lakes. Flight time from Christchurch, the South Island's gateway, is about 45 minutes by jet. Direct flights are also available from Wellington and Auckland. Coach from Christchurch, Dunedin and Invercargill; along with car rentals are also popular was to get to Queenstown.
