"Our room was disappointing, the standard lamp was broken, one of the phones didn't work & our room was dark. We only had a tiny quarter window which looked out onto a wall. The room smelled of stale smoke and there was an ashtray in the room with a sign saying we were in the smoking part of the hotel (although I thought smoking was banned in public place, including hotels in Scotland). The location in the Grassmarket was good & staff were pleasant. However I did not feel the room was value for money and was glad we were only staying for one night. Planes:
From the Airport just follow the City Centre road all the way in. No turns until you reach Princes Street, Edinburgh’s main street, with shops on one side and the Castle on the other.
As you reach Princes Street, turn right onto Lothian Road and then first left onto King’s Stables Road. Follow this road as it winds its way around the foot of the Castle. After approximately 400 metres you will come out into the Grassmarket, where the Apex City is located.
Trains:
The Grassmarket is only a 10 minute walk to the south of the Station but we recommend that you take a taxi (5 minutes) as the approach is quite hilly in parts, especially near the Castle.
Automobiles:
If you are driving into Edinburgh the simplest way to get to the City Hotel is to head for Princes Street, Edinburgh’s main street. You will immediately see the Castle and the Grassmarket is located directly behind it.
