"There were hundreds of cigarette butts on the balconies, carpets were badly stained, drinking cups in the room weren't cleaned well enough to even remove the tea stains. I requested another room after the first was unacceptable -- small, dark, dingy and smelled like an ash tray -- due to all the butts right outside the window. 2nd room was a little better.
