"Only negative: Room cleaning during stay was "basic" (beds made, towels changed but no wiping or cleaning of sink and sink areas etc.) - even a tip did not change that.
Overall a very good stay. Friendly staff and central location. Breakfast buffet not exciting but adequate. Cosy small hotel for a short stay. Would stay again and recommend it.

A LITTLE JEWEL IN THE CENTRE OF VENICE
The Locanda Canal is a small hotel in the centre of Venice. Housed in a XIII century building facing the Rio del Remedio, it is in a quiet spot a short distance from the St Mark Square.
It is two minutes from the Riva degli Schiavoni and very close to the Querini Stampalia Gallery in the Santa Maria Formosa Square. The Rialto Bridge and the Grand Canal are three minutes walk.
It is also within easy distance of the Fondamente Nuove, from which there are frequent boats to Murano, Burano and Torcello.
Locanda Canal offers 8 elegant furnished rooms, 6 double standards, 1 single room with french size bed and a junior suite both with direct view on the canal.

From the airport Marco Polo of Venice:
Take the water bus Alilaguna (red line) until S. Zaccaria (60 minutes), go along the Calle delle Rasse into Campo San Filippo e Giacomo. Cross Campo at its wide end and continue along the Calle della Chiesa. Follow the yellow signs to Querini Stampalia. Turn left into Campo San Giovanni Novo and turn right under the covered passage into the Fondamenta del Remedio: the canal will be on your right, the Locanda Canal straight ahead.
From car park or the railway station:
We suggest you to take the vaporetto Actv number 85 to san Zaccaria (one stop past St Mark's Square). Go along the Calle delle Rasse into the Campo San Filippo e Giacomo. Cross the Campo at its wide end and continue along the Calle della Chiesa. Follow the yellow signs to Querini Stampalia. Turn left into the Campo San Giovanni Novo and turn right under the covered passage into the Fondamenta del Remedio: the canal will be on your right, the Locanda Canal straight ahead. |
