"Reception staff were friendly and helpful. My room was a good size, comfortable and clean. The location was near the station, within walking distance of all major tourist sites. Only problem was that during our stay there, the piazza outside the hotel (which I recall was beautiful when we last visited) was undergoing redevelopment and so was fenced off to the public. Hotel Roma is one of the finest 4 stars hotels of Florence. It Is located in the heart of the city, in an ancient palace of 18th century, completely renovated in 1988, overlooking one of the most enchanting squares of the historical Florence, dominated by the imposing green-white marble façade of Santa Maria Novella church.
A few steps away you can find the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore (Duomo) with the Giotto Belltower, Ponte Vecchio (Old Bridge), Piazza della Siqnoria (Signoria Square), the Medicean district of San Lorenzo, the Lungarni and all the main florentine monuments and museums.
Furthermore the Hotel is near the central rail station and the congress, fairs and exhibitions center (Palazzo dei Congressi and Fortezza da Basso), easily reachable from the Florence Airport (Amerigo Vespucci).
The refined atmosphere of the ground floor, the conference hall, the reception and the american bar room are enriched by the decorative elements – capitals, pilllars, columns, panels ecc. – but the real jewels are the polychrome glass windows, work of Tito and Galileo Chini (1920).
