The stress of the holiday season can take its toll on any couple, especially those with children or other unique family obligations. Once the hustle and bustle of the holiday season winds down you may find you need to take a break and find a way to reconnect with your loved one.

Whether you have the time for along vacation or can only get away for a long weekend, there are plenty of romantic getaways for couples who simply need some time to recharge. Leave the kids with grandma, turn off the cell phones, pack your bags, and head towards one of these calming adult getaways.

5. The Four Seasons Maui at Wailea

Maui

In Maui, Hawaii you’ll find The Four Seasons Maui at Wailea. While this destination is more suited for those that have more than a weekend to spend, you’ll be greeted by year-round warm weather and incredibly soft, sandy beaches.

Spend a day in the spa while your sweetie plays a round of golf before taking a hike to some of the area’s most beautiful waterfalls. Once your leisurely and romantic hike is complete you can relax your toes with a foot massage by the pool.

The amenities offered at The Four Seasons are astounding as well. From hypo-allergenic pillows to poolside popsicles, this trip is sure to be one you’ll never forget.

4. The Setai

The Setai

The Asian inspired hotel known as The Setai is the perfect destination for those wishing to feel as though they’ve traveled to a distant land without really leaving the continental United States. Located in South Beach in Miami, Florida, The Setai is surrounded by nightclubs, bars, restaurants, and beaches – the ultimate hot spot for those who love to relax by day and party by night.

The Setai is a beautiful hotel with a serene atmosphere that counters the nightlife in the rest of the city. The hotel pool features three separate baths, each with a different temperature. Amenities include in-room spa treatments and a nighttime lounge in the courtyard.

3. L’Auberge Carmel

Carmel By The Sea

L’Auberge Carmel is a quaint boutique hotel located in Carmel-by-the-Sea in California. Believe it or not, Clint Eastwood was once the mayor of this tiny town, which is now a artists colony turned romantic vacation spot.

The L’Auberge Carmel was originally built in 1929 and has since been renovated to reflect a romantic atmosphere rivaled by no other. The rooms are decked out in French d?cor and couples will enjoy relaxing in the oversized tub before stepping out onto the heated bathroom floors.

While in town you’ll have the opportunity to stroll the myriad of chic boutiques and spectacular art galleries. Bistros and cafes abound, but your most romantic evening will be spent in the small 12-table restaurant within the hotel.

2. Viceroy Santa Monica

Viceroy Santa Monica

In Santa Monica, California you’ll find the Viceroy Santa Monica – a spectacular destination for couples looking to reminisce while having a romantic getaway. Santa Monica, unlike some California hot spots, is a very laid back place full of friendly people and good clean fun.

Viceroy Santa Monica

Start your trip with a stop at the Santa Monica Beach & Pier. Enjoy the waters before spending a few hours on the pier, snuggling on the Ferris wheel, or shopping on Third Street.

Return to your hotel, the Viceroy Santa Monica, for a personalized stay complete with poolside cabanas and personalized dinner menus. You’ll feel like you’re in an exclusive hotel with prices that are a little less limiting!

1. AQUA Cancun

Cancun

We know – Cancun, Mexico is a spring break party destination. How will you find a place for a romantic getaway amongst the throngs of teenagers? You’ll want to start by heading on over to the AQUA Cancun resort. This tiny destination is one of few that are not crawling with screaming teenagers or children and whispers “come here for privacy.”

Cancun

Your spacious room will be comfortable, calm, and provide views to some of the most breathtaking views you’ve seen since your honeymoon. We highly recommend upgrading to a suite, in which you’ll find a gigantic freestanding Jacuzzi tub. Your suite upgrade also entitles you to access to the exclusive Aqua Lounge where you’ll be met with even more personable service.

Everyone needs to take time to get away from it all. You and significant other are no different. Make sure you set aside some time on the calendar in the coming New Year. You deserve a chance to kick back, hold hands, look into each others eyes, and simply unwind – without the sounds of screaming children, ringing telephones, and workplace deadlines looming over your head. Go ahead – it’s time to get away and you won’t regret your vacation destination, no matter where you choose to end up!

The Four Seasons Maui is my choice for guests looking for luxury accommodations on Maui. Sitting one of the best beaches of the island, the resort exudes Hawaiian elegance and tranquility. The new adults-only pool overlooking the Pacific only adds to the appeal. Perfect for my honeymoon guests.
