Believe it or not, you don’t have to be in a relationship or with a group of friends in order to enjoy the luxuries of a cruise. There are dozens of cruise lines that cater to the single’s crowd.
Cruise alone, find a roommate, or travel as part of an organized tour group for singles. Whether your goal is to relax on your own or meet a potential mate, we can guarantee you’ll find a cruise to suit your needs. Here are some of our favorites!
9. Holland America
Holland America is a major cruise line, but it’s nice to know that they recognize and embrace the unique needs of the single traveler. While they don’t necessarily offers cruises limited to singles only, you’ll find that their longer cruises (lasting 8 days or more) tend to attract a crowd of either older or single individuals.
Holland America offers reasonable rates to single travelers occupying a “double occupancy” room, but also offers a “Single Partner Program” to pair you with another single traveler to help you save money. Once on board the ship, there will be plenty of singles introduction dinners, mixers, and activities to encourage lonely travelers to mingle and make friends!
8. Vacations to Go – Crystal’s Serenity
Texas based Vacations to Go recognized the need for a sophisticated singles cruise minus the drunk college crowd. They found that the luxury ship known as Crystal’s Serenity was just the answer. The group hosts a pre-departure mixer the night before departure, and then makes sure there are plenty of activities, games, and parties scheduled throughout the cruise. Unlike many luxury cruise ships, those sailing along with the singles crowd are not given designated seating arrangements for meals, giving them the opportunity to mix and match with their neighbors as often as they like.
7. All Singles Travel – Aegean I
All Singles Travel is another excellent cruise company that focuses on creating singles tours with the (mentally) mature traveler in mind. Singles can now cruise the world instead of limiting themselves to Mexico or the Bahamas, and they can do so in style. The Aegean I cruise from Golden Star Cruises features an 11-day journey around the islands of Greece, with excursions and activities for singles to either participate in alone or with their new found friends.
6. Royal Caribbean – Mediterranean Delights Singles Cruise
Also sponsored by All Singles Travel, the Mediterranean Delights Singles Cruise takes place on a Royal Caribbean ship and carries travelers from Barcelona, Spain to Marseilles, France with stops in Rome, and Italy as well. All Singles Travel hopes to add even more singles cruises as their popularity increases.
5. Binnacle Travel
Binnacle Travel is an independent travel agency based out of Pennsylvania. They offer several European cruises geared towards mature adults, though singles will find these cruises to be quiet and relaxing. Binnacle works to offer singles cruises through both Princess Cruises and Royal Caribbean, so you’re ensured both quality and affordability.
4. Singles Travel International
Singles Travel International is a group focused solely on finding destination cruises for singles. While the owner admits that finding romance aboard a cruise is difficult, she claims its easier for those with common interests, such as history or culture than it is for those who only want to drink and party. Singles Travel International has hosted cruises touring Russia, China, and England.
3. Amazing Journeys
Amazing Journeys is a tour group that focuses on offering singles cruises primarily to the Jewish community. Singles ranging from their early 20′s to late 40′s are welcome to come aboard, however, regardless of ethnicity. They offer longer destination cruises, such as an 11-night jaunt through the Greek Isles, as well as shorter cruises, such as a three-day sail around Rome.
SinglesCruise.com was actually one of the first agencies to offer regular successful singles cruises and has been in business since the early 1990′s. They started with local cruises and have since expanded overseas, offering destination excursions for singles to the Mediterranean, Tahiti, French Polynesia, Bora Bora, and even Moorea.
1. Travel Time for Singles
Travel Time for Singles is another excellent agency offering longer destination cruises for singles. They, like many others, offer an 11-night singles cruise that starts in Venice and cruises the Greek Islands. They also sponsor a 6-night cruise across the Atlantic from New York, NY to Southampton, England. Other destinations include Argentina, Uruguay, the Falkland Islands, and Chile!
While each of these cruise agencies offers a myriad of opportunities, be sure to do a little research in order to ensure your happiness during your voyage. These agencies offer cruises for singles, but they are not able to reduce the rate a cruise line charges for a double occupancy room – usually surcharged up to 200% for a single who wants to keep the room for herself. If you don’t want to cough up the extra cash, you might need to consider finding a roommate, either on your own or through your travel agency.
Either way, relax and enjoy the no-pressure atmosphere created by a cruise designed for singles traveling alone!
