Never again!

Unfortunately, our stay with Rydges Lakeland Resort Queenstown was extremely disappointing. We were in Queenstown for a wedding, and arrived early in the day having been told we could have an early check-in, and if our room wasn't available, we would be given another one to use. When we went to check-in however, we were informed that we could not have our room until 2pm. We then said, "But..." and told our story and recounted our earlier conversation with the hotel, however, this was of no use. We were told all they could offer us was the use of their solitary unisex public toilet. There was not a hint of actual assistance in Reception's approach. At this, we then had to drive around Queenstown to hire another room to get ready in. After much stress, we found one, at the cost of $220 for 2 hours - we had no option but to take it. Later that day when we returned to Rydges from the wedding, we went to check-in, and anticipated being provided with a complementary off street car park - as also promised in their documentation. Alas, this too was unavailable. Consequently, for the duration of our stay, we had to park well down the road from our accommodation. On the second afternoon of our trip I thought I would try the bar on level 6 of the hotel. I was in the mood for a nice coffee, as opposed to the instant version in my room. When I ordered it however, I was told I would need to come back in 20 - 30 mins, as there was no one available to make me a coffee at that time, and someone else might be able to do it later. I didn't bother. My experience of Rydges Lakeland Resort Queenstown, was one of a complete lack of interest in customer satisfaction. The staff appeared to be there for wages rather than service - in fact providing any sort of assistance was clearly beyond their job descriptions. This surprised me, as there is so much competition in the Queenstown accommodation market, I would have expected a brand such as Rydges to have delivered a far super product - on this occasion, even an average performance would have been better than what we received. So, as said in my title, "Never again!"

Creaky boards

We had stunning views but the damper was the loud creaking floorboards. It was very annoying especially at night when the people upstairs walked across their room and you are trying to sleep and again in the morning when you are awakened by the creaking sound.

Ok but not wow

Very dated hotel. Had to access 2 separate lifts to get to room & a lot of noise heard from surrounding rooms & creaky floorboards. Staff mostly disinterested.

Tired and dated

well situated near to the centre of Queenstown with great views over the lake.Room (and hotel generally) very dated and in need of modernisation. Room was kept reasonably clean. Amenities were okay, roof top bar/pool was cool. Would stay there again but would probably go for a more expensive room.

Nothing "Deluxe"

We chose the deluxe lake view room as we had read poor reviews on lower levels. The view IS amazing (as it is on all the lakefront hotels) but the room was outdated and tired with stained worn carpet, lino on bathroom floor and a shower curtain over the bath shower. 10 min easy walk into town.

Great location, but rooms a little tired

Great location, free parking and helpful staff. Just a short walk to the centre of town. Second time I have stayed here but probably will be looking for something a little more modern next time.

Room with a view

Loved the view, like where the hotel was in Queenstown. The sofa bed was the issue with all space in the lounge taken up when folded down so could not open the cupboard to the fridge, the door of which opened one way whilst the fridge door opened the other so the space was rather impractical. By all the accounts the sofa bed was not comfortable either. So suggest review size and space of the sofa bed
